Recently an article was published in the Harvard business review, looking at MorningStar Farms and their business model. The writer brags by saying “Morning Star, a leading food processor, demonstrates how to create an organization that combines managerial discipline and market centric flexibility without bosses, titles, or promotions”. I agree that this business model can work i.e. New Belgium Brewery. However when one is “playing” around with nutrition, there needs to be more focus on what ingredients are used in their food, as opposed to who gets to play boss that day. While MorningStar Farms boast as being a leader in vegetarian food products, take a look at what they put in it. A perfect example of ingredient manipulation. This package of sausage links says it has 1g of sugar; but in reality the number is closer to 30 times that! In addition to that the number of ingredients that have, or come close to having MSG is scary. So please look closer when assuming you are buying the “right” products.
